It is with great sadness that the IJOC Board informs our members that Neylan Etiman passed away today due to complications following surgery early last week.

Neylan was an active Club member for over a decade, and, for a period, was also Deputy Secretary General. In 2016 she designed the new Club website of which she was also the webmaster. Her infectious good humour and smile, together with her willingness to assist members to solve any registration or website issues during the Club’s annual Refresher Seminars and General Assemblies, were appreciated by everyone. Both the previous and current Club Secretary Generals would have struggled with the organization of our annual event if they had not been able to count on her tireless support.

Outside of her Club life, Neylan was well-known as an FEI Official for her eclectic contributions to our discipline. An amateur rider who competed in several Balkan Games, she worked in 3 Olympic Games – in Athens, she co-managed the stewards’ office for Paul Weier, in London she was a stewarding team member, while in Rio she assisted in the Mixed Zone – and in 3 WEGs – Jerez, Kentucky and Caen. She ran the stewards' office for all disciplines in Kentucky and for Dressage and Jumping in Caen, almost single-handedly, while in Jerez she was part of the arena crew. Apart from being a Level 3 Steward she was also an L3 Jumping Judge and Level 2 Course Designer, and officiated at many of the top Jumping events across the world. Her all-round experience made her a valid member of any team, and her approachability meant that she was also a popular figure amongst grooms, riders and trainers alike.

In the certainty that we speak on behalf of all our members, our thoughts are with her family and her friends at this difficult time. Neylan – you will be greatly missed.
